Our dresses undoubtedly derive from our past histories and with the changing times, they also become an integral part of our ongoing evolution. This specific dress has its roots deep down in the Indo-Pak times. It did not have any set cultural boundaries then as, both the Hindus and Muslims used to wear it apart from following different creeds. It has changed its shapes by varying in breadth and length of the cloth.

In 1870’s this dress had a con stringed stitching as separate salwar and Kameez. Then, the Kameez had stayed modified as a mere blouse and afterwards, it has traveled in varying cloth sizing and modes. Before the Indo-Pak partition both the nations held it as their hallmark. Up till, now as well this is an inherent necessity in both the countries and people still adore carrying it over the globe. This dress has become a dire need in the females’ world. No doubt, this dress has been successful in bridging up the gap between the foes and is a part of both the cultures.
The designers from both the countries are now exploring this dress through a wide range of experiences. The covering of the heads is still rated as a gesture of respect in both the cultures. Pakistan holds this dress as a National Dress. While an Indian women feels pride in taking this dress from the ceremonies to the daily mundane routine. The cultural similarity has made this dress an emblem of the Asian countries
